“I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Tough situations can leave you dishearten, distracted with the desire to give up. I remember when I left my job as a youth minister at the church I pastored in, and my wife left her job in the school board to seek God’s calling on our lives. There were days when we had no food in our cupboards or food on the table and we had to young children to feed.
When we wanted to give up, but decided to hold on just a bit longer, this is when God would show up. Unexpectedly, individuals would provide us with a food vouchers, or a financial donation. There is something to say about endurance and what it does for one’s spiritual growth.
In the book o f Exodus chapter 16,, we read that the children of Egypt wanted to give up. This was after God had freed them from slavery and parted the Red Sea! We see the children of Egypt murmuring and complaining to Moses, wanting to go back to Egypt because they were in the wilderness without food. But what did God do because of His love and compassion-He rained manna down from heaven!
Are life’s challenges tough? Yes they are. But they are not meant to weigh you down, or tire you out. They are divinely designed to make you stronger and to draw you closer, in full dependence on your Saviour. We are not self-sufficient and when we are on the mountaintop, we sometimes tend to operate in self-sufficiency….this is not how we were designed.
Are you in a challenging season right now? Do not murmur and complain like the children of Israel did. Thank Him right now for the season that you are in. Praise Him for bringing you out, and for using your situation to bring glory to His Kingdom. Remember, it is not about you…it is about Him and how He will be glorified through you. If you are tempted to give up, or throw in the towel…I encourage you not to. Keep holding onto the hand of a God who is faithful and loving. He will fulfill every promise that you are standing on. Your manifestation is on its’ way. HOLD ON!!!
