“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.”
Proverbs 22:1 (NIV)
We are bombarded daily with images of public figures whose characters are questionable based on their actions and what they say. Character has been defined as doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Can we as believers say that that we operate under this principle consistently?
The simple truth is that everyone is defined by his/her character and the legacy you leave will depend largely on your character. God puts great emphasis on the importance of having good character. He says that it is more precious than silver and gold. When you do the right thing, regardless of who is watching or not, you are being obedient to your Heavenly Father.
Believers, my challenge to you is to always be mindful of what you are portraying to the world. Remember that our character is a reflection of who we serve. And when we think that no one is watching….He is. Let’s leave a legacy that our children, and future generations can be proud of!
