“Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Colossians 3:11 (NIV)
It was all over the media this week. Donald Sterling, the billionaire owner of the LA Clippers NBA basketball team was exposed for his racist attitude. I had the opportunity to listen to the entire recording, and unbelievable was the only word that came to mind.
But I began to do some self-reflection. As a Believer is there areas of my life that I hold attitudes that are not of God. Am I quick to judge, quick to formulate opinions about others based on negative stereotyping? Do I see people through the eyes of God or through the eyes of the world?
It is easy as Believers to look at the views held by Donald Sterling and know that in today’s world those beliefs and attitudes are totally unacceptable. But my challenge to all Believers is to ask Holy Spirit to reveal any attitudes that do not reflect that of Jesus and to help us as we become more like Him. Our ultimate goal is to see the world through the eyes of our Saviour.
